Goodlatte, Falwell Jr. share their support of President Trump's first SOTU Address
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Local lawmakers shared their reaction to President Trump's first State of the Union Address.
Representative Bob Goodlatte said he thought the address was one of the best he has ever heard.
"He talked about a safe and strong and proud America and was very optimistic. Talking about the accomplishments of his first year in office but also looking ahead to addressing some of the major challenges we face here in our country and around the world," said Goodlatte.
Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. said he also agrees that it was a successful speech made by President Trump.
"Everything Donald Trump said is good for all Americans and his policies, his plans, his proposals...you gotta be really warped to not understand and to not see the benefits of what he's proposing," Falwell said.
Jerry Falwell Jr. added that he is excited about President Trump's infrastructure plan and thinks it will be beneficial for Lynchburg.
