Chess Club holds hair cut fundraiser for cancer research
ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) -- The Roanoke Chess Club is holding a fundraiser for cancer research until 8 p.m. Friday.
It's for the St. Baldrick's Foundation at the Sports Clips in Roanoke.
Last year, Lee Hadden raised $500 just on his own.
This year, he teamed up with his chess club and he's hoping to make even more money.
Because for Hadden, it's personal.
"My mom had cancer and when she lost her hair it became very difficult for her to go out," he said. "And even when her own sons came to visit, she didn't want us to see her without her wig."
Sport Clips is donating a dollar from every cut to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
If you want to shave your head to show solidarity with people fighting cancer, they'll do that for free.
