Carpet store reopens in temporary location after being destroyed by tornado
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- It's been a tough couple of months for Carpet One on Timberlake Road.
The tornado in April destroyed their showroom, but they're still rebuilding.
Their new showroom is located about a half mile from their original one. It's here on Timberlake Road and Greenview Drive, right next to the Timberlake Family Pharmacy.
"It's something you don't expect, you don't know how to go into it and every day is something new," Chase Dewitt, owner of the story, said.
Dewitt admits its been a struggle. For the last month, they've been searching for a new location for their showroom after it was torn to pieces.
He says they plan to demolish the old location and eventually open it back up, but that could take a year or more.
So in the meantime, they're opening at this temporary location down the road.
"It's a little smaller than what we had here, but we will still offer the same types of flooring," Dewitt said. "We will still have carpet, vinyl, ceramic, hardwood, laminate, vinyl plank and area rugs. We will have all of that, but probably not quite the selection we had here."
Dewitt said if all goes as planned, he hoped to have the location open by the first week in July.
