Campbell Co. firefighter becomes first in local area to receive special award

CAMPBELL Co., Va. (WSET) -- Campbell County is celebrating a first for their community.

Lieutenant Kenneth "Kenny" Kirby is being recognized at the Board of Supervisors meeting in May for earning the 2017 Governor's Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award.

This is the first time someone from the Campbell County or Lynchburg area has gotten the award.

Kirby has served on the Concord Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.
