Bedford Co. proposal would change Farmington area housing units
BEDFORD Co., Va. (WSET) -- A Bedford County Planner said they are holding a public hearing on a project in the Farmington at Forest area.
It will not be a rezoning of property, rather, it would change the type of housing units.
According to the planner, this is specifically for Farmington section 20. When this property was rezoned back in 2007, the developer said there would be no more than 636 dwelling units. They had planned for 84 one story 4-plexes, but now say that they are not selling well. Therefore, there is a new proposal.
The proposal suggests building 41 single family dwellings, 48 condominium units and 12 two to three story town house units," said Mark Jordan, Bedford County Planner and Zoning Enforcement officer.
The proposal would add to the total number of units in the Farmington area.
"What they would like to have the capability of doing is building from 636 to 666 dwelling units, which would be 30 additional dwelling units. What they're proposing for Section 20 right now would be a total of 649 dwelling units throughout the whole development of Farmington," Jordan explains.
The public hearing is next Tuesday.
