After 40 years, the county fair is coming back to Amherst County
AMHERST Co., Va. (WSET) -- Amherst County has approved $60,000 to help with planning and expenses for the Amherst County Fair coming in August.
It will go towards equipment and entertainment, along with paying for law enforcement and EMTs.
The director of tourism said it's been 40 years since they had a county fair, but there has never been one as big as this event they are planning.
"We just want to bring everyone together to have a great time," said Vanessa Angus, the Amherst County Director of Tourism. "Nothing embodies small-town America like a county fair so we are just thrilled to bring this event to Amherst County."
In addition to rides, there will also be agricultural competitions, live music, fireworks and more.
It starts August 16 on Sweet Briar Lane.
