Police: 51-year-old dies in weekend Lynchburg shooting
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- Lynchburg Police are investigating a shooting in Diamond Hill that left a 51-year-old dead on Sunday.
Police said officers responded to Fillmore Street near 17th Street around 11:15 p.m. where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
LPD said the Lynchburg Fire Department was called to the scene to help, but the victim, identified as Ricky Johnson, Sr., of Lynchburg, died from his injuries on the scene.
A family member said Johnson, Sr. was a father to three kids, a grandfather, and a kind-hearted man who didn't bother anyone.
Police said this is an active and ongoing investigation.
