23-year-old charged with murdering Pamplin man

PAMPLIN, Va. (WSET) -- A 23-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the shooting death of a 35-year-old man in Pamplin, according to the Farmville Herald.

The Prince Edward County Sheriff's Office said Simon Carl Lerk is in custody after the shooting on Thursday.

“My officers responded and they found the victim, Darnell M. Green, 35­, of Pamplin," the sheriff told the newspaper.

The sheriff said Lerk is under arrest and they are looking for several other persons of interest.

Deputies responded to Holiday Hills Drive around 2:00 p.m. after a 911 call.
