2 killed in deadly Va. house fire, firefighter transported to hospital
PORTSMOUTH, Va., (WSET) -- Officials in Portsmouth said 2 people are dead after a early morning house fire Wednesday. Capt.
WVEC reports crews responded to the house fire around 4:14 a.m. at 2012 Atlanta Avenue.
Heavy fire was found coming from the front porch area of the home.
They said upon arrival, crews discovered that two residents were inside the home and unable to exit.
Crews made an attempt to retrieve both residents.
One victim was located and removed from the first floor and the second victim was removed from a second floor window onto a ladder.
The victims, a male and female, were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
One firefighter was transported to the hospital for treatment but is in stable condition.
