14-month-old toddler dies from blunt force trauma, aunt and uncle charged
COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WSET) -- The aunt and uncle of a 14-month-old boy have been charged in connection with his death.
According to WTVR, Winter Harvey and Damarcus Harvey Sr. were indicted by a grand jury for felony child neglect involving the death of King Edward Harvey.
On January 24, 2017, King was found unresponsive by police and fire and EMS workers inside of a home. They determined that he was deceased.
King's mother, Tiffany Lyblanovtis said there was blunt force trauma and blood found on his brain. Investigators said King was stepped on while he was sleeping.
According to Lyblanovtis, she learned the hard way not to trust anyone, including family.
"I can't trust anyone with my kids..not my family..my own blood," she said.
Detectives in Colonial Heights have been investigating the case for over a year through conducting interviews, working with medical professionals and collecting forensic evidence.
Based on information they obtained, officials issued indictments for both Winter Harvey and Damarcus Harvey Sr. for one charge each of felony neglect.
Both caregivers were arrested and served outstanding warrants. Damarcus Harvey was transported to Riverside Regional Jail with a $2,500 bond and Winter Harvey was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
"I am pissed that she is free and walking because if I were to go and fight her they would come arrest me," Lyblanovits said.
Both are due back in Colonial Heights Circuit Court on January 16.
