Health Check: SculpSure
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) - Stubborn fat sometimes just won't go away as much as you diet and exercise. Kayla Mays said she’s always had that “trouble spot.”
"I've always had like a little pudge in my abdomen that no matter how much I work out or go to the gym it just won't ever go away," Mays said.
Dr. Keith Pitzer hears a lot of patients complain about the problem areas in the stomach and flanks.
"It doesn't matter how much you work out, how much you diet. You are still going to have some fat on your body," Pitzer explained.
That's why Pitzer said. he's really excited about the results he’s seeing with SculpSure.
"The lasers heat up the temperature in the fat -- which is what causes cell death to the fat. So basically it disrupts the fat cells,” Pitzer explained. “The fat cells dissolve and get absorbed into the body."
But they were able to go right back to everyday activities.
"It was a little warm and then as soon as it would get to its max warmth it would start cooling down," Mays said.
Depending on your layer of fat, it can take one or two treatments.
"If you're just looking for the as they say, the pinch and inch, that's one treatment," Pitzer said.
On average SculpSure will run you between $1200 and $2000.
Doctors evaluate you before to make sure you are a good candidate. The only people they will NOT treat are those who are pregnant or who have a hernia.
It can take up to 12 weeks to see the full benefits, but Mays is already seeing results a month later
"My pants are fitting looser in my abdomen and I feel like it's flatter in that area," Mays said.
A change that’s giving her new confidence in an area that once made her self-conscious.
