Jodie Whittaker to become first woman to play 13th Doctor Who
WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- The 13th Doctor Who has arrived and the character will be played by Jodie Whittaker.
This is the first time Doctor Who will be played by a woman.
BBC One tweeted a trailer with a cloaked figure moving through the woods, then revealing Whittaker with the key.
Doctor Who is a time lord that uses a time machine shaped like a British phone booth to hop galaxies. The show originally aired from 1963 to 1989. It was later revived in 2005. The Doctor can travel across space and time and even regenerate into new bodies.
In an interview Whittaker told fans to not be concerned about her gender.
