Bella Hadid's 'stalker' arrested
(WENN) - Bella Hadid called police on Thursday night after fearing a man who has allegedly been harassing her was outside her New York apartment.
According to TMZ.com, the 21-year-old model has been concerned about the behavior of a man she claims has been sending her "numerous unwanted threatening messages" on social media threatening both her and her family between Dec. 7and Feb. 7. She called the New York Police Department on Thursday after noticing the man had posted a photo of her apartment building on Instagram, while other reports suggest Bella actually saw the man walking near her apartment.
Following her call, police arrested 37-year-old Ryan S. Perez, who they believe is the same person who has been sending Hadid the messages, at around 9.30pm on Thursday night.
He was charged with aggravated harassment and stalking, a spokesperson for the NYPD told People.com, and, as WENN went to press, is believed to still be in custody.
Bella didn't let the incident ruin her evening, as she was later seen heading to pal Samuel Krost’s birthday dinner - sharing a video of the celebrations on her Instagram stories. She was also joined at the bash by her equally successful model sister Gigi.
It's not the first time the Hadid family have had to deal with unwanted attention. Last July, a man accused of stalking Gigi was sentenced to up to three years in prison.
Marcell Porter, 37, was arrested on suspicion of stalking and burglary in June 2015 after allegedly attempting to gain access to the catwalk star's New York City home on numerous occasions.
Upon his visits, Porter is said to have left messages for Gigi in which he called them "soul mates" and discussed marriage and children.
After pleading guilty to burglary in connection to the arrest, the case went to trial - where Porter was told he will spend up to three years in jail, according to the New York Daily News.
