WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - On September 11, we remember.

We remember all those who lost their lives, those who risked everything to save others, and we remember that we must be vigilant.

We also remember where we were on that fateful morning 16 years ago.

I was right here in Washington D.C., seeing smoke billow out of the Pentagon, wondering where the terrorists would strike next. America was shaken to its core on that bright September morning, but it was not broken, not even close.

The days, months and years since 9/11 have been full of resilience, strength and determination to keep our country safe.

We must never forget 9/11. We must make sure that our children and grandchildren know about the day America was attacked by barbarians, and the force with which our country has continued to respond.

We never forget what the days and years following 9/11 proved: that America and Americans cannot be messed with. We will continue to fight for our freedom and our way of life. We will always stand strong against terrorism and do so with an unwavering pride in our country, our democracy.

America is the land of the free. And the brave. These parts of our national identity are sacred. Especially so when our freedom is threatened and our bravery is tested.

Here is the bottom line: 9/11 is not just a moment in history for our country and our people. It is a call to action which reminds us to never forget those who perished and to do everything in our power to prevent future attacks.
