Heaviest rain since autumn is coming

(WSET)

This forecast is good news for our yards!

We’re tracking the heaviest rain we’ve seen since November, and you’ll want your rain gear with you for Thursday and Friday.

Thursday will be cloudy and cool with occasional to steady rain and drizzle. Rain will increase in coverage across the Lynchburg, Danville and Roanoke area during Thursday afternoon and night. Rain totals near 0.25” are possible.

Heavier rain arrives Friday as warmer air moves our direction. The warmer air ahead of an approaching cold front will give us downpours. We’ll have long stretches of Friday that are dry, but you can expect occasional morning showers, followed by heavier rain by Friday night and early Saturday morning.

A few thunderstorms are also possible-- you could hear thunder for the first time in 2018!

Rainfall totals will average 1” to 2” by Friday night.

All local rain ends before Saturday 8am, and our weekend will be colder and dry locally. - George
