Belvac Production Machinery is hiring an Assembly Quality Technician

ASSEMBLY QUALITY TECHNICIAN

General Function: Large Volume Measurement Systems Deployment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • It is every BPM, Inc. employee’s responsibility to be aware of and work with Belvac’s current documented Quality Management System as it pertains to their job requirements
  • Perform a wide range of inspection functions in accordance with approved procedures and/or instructions. These functions include but may not be limited to the Inspection of assemblies, sub-assemblies, and related parts, components and materials
  • Perform inspections with the aid of Belvac’s Large Volume Measurement Systems (e.g. Faro Laser/Arm) with and without direction to reduce assembly build time, warranty cost, increase inspection throughput as well as finding other usage for this equipment to benefit Belvac
  • Train multiple parties on the correct usage of the Large Volume Measurement Systems
  • Perform process surveillance of assembly activities
  • Perform inspections of kits and sales orders prior to final packaging
  • Document opportunities for improvement and problem solving solutions
  • Assist in the development/improvement of assembly documentation and work instructions
  • Write inspection reports
  • Perform shipping inspections
  • Perform receiving and in-process inspections for the fabrication as necessary
  • Document Quality System work instructions (inspection process)
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Communicates effectively and in a professional manner with all customers internal or external
  • Travel to domestic and international destinations (approx. 10%)

Skills and Knowledge Required to Perform Job

Inspection Skills:

  • Full understanding of Large Volume Measurement systems
  • Perform all requirements of Inspector “A”
  • Proficient knowledge and application of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
  • Ability to develop inspection plans and inspection techniques without direct supervision.

Continuous Improvement Skills:

Software specific PC skills

  1. Excel, Microsoft Office, Access
  2. SPC Software

Basic SPC knowledge

  1. Charting
  2. Terminology
  3. Cause-Effect charting
  4. 8D problem solving
  5. 5 WHY

5S improvement and auditing

Education:

  • High school graduate or GED and Technical or College Credits

Experience:

  • Must meet all requirements of Inspector “A”, with minimum of 3 years in the position, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience with Large Volume Measurement Systems (Faro Laser/Arm systems a plus)
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as the machine assembly schedule dictates
  • Mechanical assembly inspection knowledge a plus
  • A complete working knowledge of Mathematics, Geometry and Trigonometry
  • CMM understanding and advanced metrology skills
  • Visual acuity to perform inspection, read gages and perform visual inspections
  • Windows, MS Office and Access experience
