Lynchburg, VA - Did you know in the early 19th century America, as it was in Europe, water was considered unfit to drink?
So that left beer, ales, and spirits.
Well the Barrels, Bottles and Casks tasting tour this Friday and Saturday at Poplar Forest will give you a glimpse of what it was like.
You can see the meals and drinks Thomas Jefferson and the plantation's enslaved community consumed.
The tour ends with a cellar side beverage tasting and light snacks.
The hour tours are at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., they cost 25 dollars each.
