The Buzz Nov. 23-24: Festival of Trees & Local Concerts
Lynchburg is getting in the Christmas spirit this weekend. And hey--we'll have the perfect weather for it.
The United Way of Central Virginia is kicking off the annual Festival of Trees this Saturday. Several fundraising events take place at Centra's Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center. Saturday from 10 to noon, you can enjoy holiday tea with Mrs. Claus for 15 dollars. That night, there will be a reception for 35 dollars. That will have sampling from local wineries, breweries and restaurants. And Sunday, you should stop by for the FREE family open house where you can take part in everything Christmas.
Also Saturday--the annual Girls on the Run Fall Event 5K is back at Sweet Briar College. Students will be out there bright and early welcoming all girls taking part. Starting at 8 a.m., there will be music and activities, and the race starts at 9:30 a.m.
Also in Lynchburg, a great roots band will be at The Ellington. The Nighthawks have been around for more than three decades--mixing blues, rock, soul and swing. They'll be on stage at 8:30 and tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate.
