The party with the purpose is back in Lynchburg. Come out to the first Friday Cheers event at Riverfront Park May 17. Gates are open 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and there will be live music all night. Bring your blankets and chairs to hang out, and of course there will be food and drinks. That's $5.
There will also be live music at The Ellington on Saturday as Graham Whorley takes the stage. He describes himself as a new world musician, performing rock, jazz and funk. Whorley has released six independently produced albums and has shared the stage with several artists. Music starts at 8:30p.m., and tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
Take a trip back in time at the Nelson County Historic Homes and Properties Tour. The Historical Society of Nelson County is hosting the event Saturday. There are six stops on the tour that includes historic homes, an old school house, and a working mill. That's 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
