The Buzz June 14-16: Comedy Play, Batteau Festival & Fishing Competition

A couple of our own ABC 13 actors will be in a comedy play in Lynchburg. Come out to the Renaissance Theater for "Mama Won't Fly" starting Friday night. The play is about a woman who's racing the clock to bring her mother to her brother's wedding. The cross- country adventure gets pretty ridiculous. That's on stage June 14, 15, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. and June 23 at 3 p.m. Current ticket prices are: $17 for regular adult admission, $15 for seniors and groups of 10 or more, and $13 for students and children.

The launch of the James River Batteau Festival is Saturday morning! The eight-day flat boat journey starts in Lynchburg and ends in Richmond. The tradition re-enacts how goods and passengers were carried downstream back in the day. The launch starts at 11 a.m. at Percival's Island.

Also Saturday, the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia invite you to a day of fishing! Come out to Smith Mountain Lake for the Big Fish Challenge featuring professional fisherman David Dudley! You can compete in different categories---and the fishing starts at 7 a.m.

Phase 2 is hosting a top country singer Saturday night. Joe Diffie will perform his popular hits all night. Tickets are $20.
