Community behind Rashad Jennings as he competes on DWTS finale
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A teammate of Rashad Jennings' during his time at LCA said he's proud of the success he's had on the dancing floor.
His local connections have many rooting for Jennings' to take the mirror ball trophy home on the finale of Dancing with the Stars.
"He went to LCA, I graduated from LCA, he went to Liberty and I just graduated from Liberty, it's really great to have someone on TV that's from a little small hometown, I hope he wins," said Katie Bredemier, who lives in Lynchburg.
"I think it's awesome I think he's done a great job, he's definitely kept up his faith through the entire thing, he's phenomenal," added Vannah Fry.
Chris Rocco now coaches football at Liberty Christian Academy, but he was Jennings' teammate in high school and in college.
"Our offense ran through Rashad and was good because of Rashad," said Rocco.
Rocco and Jennings even lived next door to each other in the dorms.
"Rashad has always been very down to earth," Rocco said.
Rocco said he wasn't surprised to see Rashad join the show, while he's always been good at football, he's taken up other interests as well.
"I remember him playing the guitar and stuff like that, and so it doesn't surprise me at all that he's doing Dancing With the Stars and doing a good job because he has always been able to take up other things and do a good job with them," said Rocco.
The finale of Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesday night starting at 8:30 p.m. on ABC 13.
