Throughout his entire life, Ralph J Bunche worked to further the cause of Civil Rights. He was a gifted diplomat, known for his unwavering efforts working in the United Nations. In 1950, Bunche was the first African American to win a Nobel Peace Prize after negotiating the armistice agreement that halted the 1948-1949 Arab–Israeli War.
