Lynchburg, VA - Families came to downtown Lynchburg for the Riverfront Challenge race Saturday morning.
That's where people walk, run or bike and at the end, there's a big ice cream party.
This year, the Young Leaders of United Way tagged along and held the Field Day Olympics right after the challenge.
The group brought out all the fun events from your elementary school field days. There were sack races, ball games and an obstacle course.
People of all ages were out there having fun.
The $5 donation went toward the United Way of Central Virginia. Organizers say it was a perfect day for the event.
"There have been a lot of folks who just happened to see our crazy event going on and say, 'Hey I want to be a part of it.' It's been a pretty good turnout. It's our first year, and again it was nice for the Riverfront Challenge to allow us to participate and get some of their folks involved," said Keena Wood, director of marketing for United Way.
