WWII Era Posters Up in Bedford

Bedford, VA - Reproductions of war effort posters are in the windows of just about every business in Centertown Bedford.

Original versions were in storefronts during World War II. They encouraged people on the home front to take war time jobs, buy bonds, and can their food.

"It gives us kind of a chance to physically reconnect with that time period. During the war of course these posters were all over the country, motivating people to be involved, save and give to the war effort."

Store and restaurant owners are also making plans to decorate their shops for a military parade on Saturday, June 7th.

The Bedford Welcome Center supplied the posters.
