(11:20 p.m. Monday) Roanoke, VA - Shots rang out at the Sheetz in downtown Roanoke across from the Roanoke Civic Center Monday morning. The shooter, police say, is a 32-year-old Franklin County Deputy; his target and victim, police say, is his 30-year-old ex-wife. She is now dead.

Roanoke Police say Jonathan Agee used a rifle to shoot and killed his ex-wife Jennifer Agee at the Sheetz on Williamson Road. Police believe Jennifer wasn't the only person in the car.

"I believe there was a child, but I don't know if he was in the car, out of the car. I don't know those details. That's all a part of the investigation at this point," said Chief Chris Perkins, Roanoke Police Department.

Chief Perkins says Agee then fled in his cruiser.

At exit 128 on interstate 81, a Trooper pulled Agee over. State police say Agee opened fire on Trooper Matt Brannock, and Brannock returned fire after being shot in the leg. Soon, we're told, more Troopers arrived, shooting Agee and ending the threat.

Word spread quickly among those passing through town on this Memorial Day holiday.

"It just makes me think about all the people who are out there serving - our police officers and state troopers - you just never know what these guys are up against," said Robin Vance from Tennessee.

"I still feel that my police officers do their job. It's just some stuff happens; People go crazy," said Seth Scott of Salem.

Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt says, "We are shocked and saddened by today's tragic events. We ask that you keep the families of all involved in your prayers."

"I don't feel good about any of it honestly. We got a trooper that's shot. We have a female that was murdered in cold blood - and all of this done by a police officer. None of it sits well with me at all," said Perkins.

The two Troopers who shot Agee are on administrative leave, which is state police policy.

Trooper Brannock's injuries are not life-threatening, but officials say Agee's are.

Agee has been suspended without pay and is facing numerous charges.

(6:30 p.m. Monday) Roanoke, VA - A Franklin County sheriff's deputy is accused of shooting both his ex wife, and then a state trooper Monday.

It started with a fatal shooting at the Sheetz on Williamson Road in Roanoke around 11:30 a.m. Police say Deputy Jonathan Agee is suspected of shooting his ex-wife to death there.

Jennifer Agee, 30, was pronounced dead at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. There was a child in the car with her. No information about child's age, sex or relation to the ex-wife is available, but the child is okay.

Police say Agee then drove off and authorities say this led to the shooting of a state trooper on I-81. The trooper spotted Agee on Route 460 then followed him to Exit 118 off I-81. Agee eventually stopped, which is when police say he fired at the trooper. The trooper was shot once in the leg. He is expected to be okay.

Then police say Agee drove on to the Ironto exit where other troopers, who fired at Agee were. He was shot multiple times and is now at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. No word on his condition.

(2:30 p.m. Monday) Montgomery Co., VA - State Police say one of their troopers has been shot, during a traffic stop on Interstate 81.

Sgt. Bob Carpentieri said more troopers responded to the scene and that the suspect was eventually shot.

They were both transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial. The trooper's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening; the condition of the suspect is unknown.

It happened just before noon on the northbound lane of I-81 at Exit 128 in Montgomery County.

The incident left traffic backed up for at least eight miles. VDOT officials say traffic is being re-routed at Exit 118 C onto Route 11 and back on I-81 at Exit 132.

(2:30 p.m. Monday) Roanoke, VA - A woman has been killed outside a gas station in Roanoke and police say her ex-husband, a Franklin County deputy, is the suspect.

It happened around 11:30 a.m. at the Sheetz on Williamson Road.

Roanoke Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson says that the adult woman pulled into the parking lot, her ex-husband pulled up behind her, got out of his car and fired shots into her vehicle before speeding off.

Johnson says the deputy was in his patrol car at the time of the shooting, but does not believe he was on duty.

The woman was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial where she later died.

No arrests have been made. Police are not releasing names at this time.

Police say they do not yet know if this shooting is related to the shooting during a traffic stop on I-81 in Montgomery County. A state trooper was shot, then additional troopers responded and shot the suspect. Both survived.

That has left holiday traffic backed up for at least eight miles. VDOT officials say traffic is being re-routed at Exit 118 C onto Route 11 and back on I-81 at Exit 132.
