Wish Granted For Appomattox Kid Battling Cancer
Campbell County, VA - 9-year-old Tyler Peterson of Appomattox has been battling cancer since he was 6. He inspired dozens of local firefighters to do something special for him Monday night.
About 40 volunteer firefighters from Campbell, Amherst, and Bedford Counties gathered at the Brookville station -- to celebrate Tyler's love for firefighters.
Tyler got a lot of goodies, including a hat, jacket, and other gear. You see, Tyler's always wanted to be a firefighter.
"Firefighters are labled as heroes out here but the real heroes are these small kids that are battling these terminal diseases," said Brookville-Timberlake Firefighter Jerry Womack.
Womack said the idea to help Tyler came about when firefighters and police officers from the northeast came down to visit young Nathan Norman who is also battling cancer.
