West Wins VHSCA All-Star Baseball 9-7

Lynchburg - The West All-Stars erased a 4-0 deficit, breaking loose for nine runs in the late innings and then holding on to beat the East 9-7 in Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Baseball at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

These All-Star games are for graduated seniors, one last chance to play on the high school level before many take their talents to college.

Amherst County catcher Peyton Maddox doubled in the fourth inning for the West, some Dan River and Tunstall stars had big contributions in the 9-run outburst. Dallas Smithers and Wesley Thornton represented Dan River in the game, Tunstall's Chris Buckner and Brad Hylton also played for the West.

D.A. Christian of Amherst and Hidden Valley's Ben Schmidt and Hayes Nelson also earned All-Star recognition.
