Roanoke Co., VA - Wells Fargo gave 115 employees notice today their positions will be eliminated on December 15th.
The company's Virginia spokeswoman says only the Consumer Lender Department, at their Roanoke County facility on Plantation Road, is affected.
Kristy Marshall, from the company's Richmond location, said the cuts are in response to a slow down of refinancing needs during the aftermath of the housing market crash in 2008.
Thursday's preliminary notice will be followed by official notice in mid October.
The company said they will try to place as many employees in other positions as possible.
Currently more than 1,800 people are employed at the Roanoke County location.
