Weekly Buzz: April 13-15

If you love shoesyou can get some great pairs while helping a great cause this weekend.

The 13th annual CASA Heart and Sole Shoe Market is this Saturday at the Lynchburg Armory. You can shop from thousands of brand new pairs while helping the group that advocates for abused and neglected children. It'll be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and shoes range from $5 to $30. If you want to shop before the crowds--there's a preview party Friday for $25. That's 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and there will be some wine, light food, prizes and a fashion show.{}

The Ellington in Lynchburg is hosting Jimmy Rushing this Friday. The guitarist will have some friends along on stage to perform a blend of blues, rock and R&B. They'll be on stage at 6 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door.

And the band Rare Form will perform at Phase 2 on Saturday. The high-energy country, rock and dance band will be on stage at 9 p.m. Tickets are $8.

The Danville Science Center is kicking off the new season of butterflies this Saturday. They're opening the doors to the Butterfly Station and Garden for the first time. There will be crafts, face painting and two butterfly releases. That's 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and it's free!
