Attorneys on both sides of the Virginia Tech wrongful death case will appear at a hearing in Richmond Tuesday morning.
Families of two victims filed suit against the state, saying the University was negligent by not notifying the campus after the first shooting. In June 2012, a judge upheld a jury's negligence finding. But the judge sharply reduced the damages.
Both sides want to appeal. They are asking a three judge panel Tuesday to ask that the state Supreme Court hear their appeals.
