Lynchburg, VA- It's your voice, your vote, and Democrats want to make sure your voices are heard in Lynchburg. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden spoke to a crowd of roughly 1,500 supporters late Saturday afternoon at the Lynchburg City Armory.
There, the VP asked people to vote early by absentee if they're able. He said he wants an early win for his side. But his speech wasn't without a gaffe.
The scoreboard at the event showed a reference to the 47%, but as the 2012 campaign clock winds down, Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden make a last minute push in Lynchburg. The VP told his supporters:
"I'm a big Tom Kaine fan, a big Tom Kaine fan."
After getting the name of the former head of his own party wrong, Biden stuck close to the script of well-known campaign catch phrases.
"The president has a new term for it, which I like. He calls it what? Romnesia."
"He started talking about binders."
"As the President said in the second debate, he said Romney's plans are awful sketchy. Well, I don't like to correct the president, but in this case I will. Folks, they're not sketchy, they're Etch-a-Sketchy."
Then Biden got very serious.
"We're going to end this war in Afghanistan, as we did in Iraq."
"We're going to invest here in America. Creating good jobs here in America. Building American roads. American bridges. American infrastructure. American ports. American schools."
And the Vice President believes his American dream depends on Virginia.
"We win Virginia, we win this election."
This was Vice President Biden's seventh political event in Virginia just this year. With just 10 days left in this crucial campaign for the White House, the chances we'll see him back here in Battleground Virginia are still pretty high.
The Vice President's son Beau Biden was also scheduled to speak at the rally, but had to cancel at the last minute. He is a National Guardsman in Delaware and was called up to respond to Hurricane Sandy.
