VMI Holds off Ohio to Reach CIT Final Four

Athens, OH - The VMI Keydets rallied from 17 down in the first half, then held off a late Bobcats' surge to win at Ohio University Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Tournament.

VMI seniors Rodney Glasgow and D.J. Covington led the way for the Keydets. Glasgow poured in 30 points, hitting 11-of-19 shots and dishing out five assists. Glasgow is now just two assists shy of becoming the ninth player in Big South history to post 200 in a single season.

Covington racked up 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to notch his 19th double-double this season. VMI shot a blistering 68 percent from the field in the second half, including 5-of-8 three-pointers.

Ohio was led by Nick Kellogg who poured in 30 points, Maurice Ndour added 29 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the field.

With the win, VMI advances to the tournament semifinals on Tuesday, April 1, with the site and time to be announced. The Keydets assure themselves of becoming the Big South's first men's basketball team to ever play in the month of April. VMI is leaving the Big South after this season and returning to the Southern Conference.
