Lynchburg, VA - The new Heritage High School in Lynchburg is closer to becoming a reality.
Tuesday during a City Council Work Session, further details were shown to council.
During a Design Development Update, a virtual video was shown that was put together by the architect.
Council got a look inside the virtual walls of what could be the new Heritage High School. The video took people through the media center, science labs, the food service areas.
The building is slated to be more than 260,000 thousand square feet.
The project also has an estimated 87-million dollar price tag.
"It is really heart-warming to see this presentation and see the progress. Even though I would have preferred another approach other than a new school, that wasn't what carried the day and I support this and I look forward to you breaking ground in 2014," Councilman H. Cary said
If Lynchburg can raise its annual investment to $5 million, ground could be broken as early as next year. Council is discussing the option.
ABC 13 will bring you updates as soon as that happens.
