Danville, VA - The day after Christmas may typically be reserved for relaxing with family and friends- or recovering from eating all the cookies Santa left behind. But, Danville and Pittsylvania County's Chamber of Commerce hopes you'll consider your job search today too. It's why they started

The site is a non-traditional job fair with non-traditional parameters, but logging on and recruiters in Danville hope you'll click to see what they have to offer.

"If people come in for the holidays or if people want to spread the word, they don't have to physically come in and submit a resume. They can do it all electronically, they can do it from any city, any state in the US or outside of the US," said Laurie Moran, President of the Danville-Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce.

More than 75 jobs are already posted- from a children's librarian to labor and management positions- from employers across the area.

"So far it's given us a wider net that we have been able to offer our positions online," said Kathie Tune with Averett University Human Resources.

"More people the better, more qualified applicants, lets them know what the city does have to offer," said Wendy Carter, a Human Resources Specialist with the City of Danville. "And maybe reach some of the ones that are trying to come back home who maybe have left the area for a while."

And the chamber says that's the biggest goal: catching the attention of former residents for the holidays.

"What we're trying to show is that there are jobs here for people that already have a connection to this region, they can come back and find job opportunities here," said Moran.

"They know the area, they know what the city is, what the goals are, they know what we would like to see for the area," said Carter. "It's always good to bring the citizens back home because they take pride in their job because it's where they were born and raised."
