Virginia Tech Server Hacked
Blacksburg, VA - Virginia Tech reported Tuesday that its Department of Human Resources computer server was hacked.
The server contained information on almost 145,000 people who used the institution's online employment application process to apply for jobs at Virginia Tech from 2003 until now.
No personal information such as credit card, date of birth or social security numbers was accessed.
Driver's license numbers may have been obtained, however. Virginia Tech apologizes for this matter and says they are correcting the situation in preventing it from happening again.
