Virginia Remembers the Blizzard of 1996

Lynchburg, VA - Seventeen years ago at this time, Virginia was in the midst of one of its deepest snowstorms on record.

In Greater Lynchburg, amounts ranged from 22-28 inches.

ABC 13 Chief Meteorologist Sean Sublette remembers the storm well.

"It was the first time in my professional career that I remember looking at the state's weather observations, and every single site in Virginia, from Bristol to Norfolk, and from Arlington to Danville, was reporting snow," said Sublette.
