Alton, VA-- Folks at Virginia International Raceway in Halifax County announced that their raceway will be part of the new TUDOR United SportsCar Series next year.
This is the new combined series of the Grand Am and American LeMans series.
VIR says this is a pretty big deal because only twelve facilities in the country were chosen for these races, and they're very glad they made the cut.
"They're going from 26 or 27 events at 22 tracks, to only 12 events at 12 tracks, and I'm getting goosebumps," said Connie Nyholm, owner of VIR. "We're so honored to have been chosen because we're on the list of the iconic tracks in America, it is absolutely amazing."
Some other race tracks that are participating include Daytona International Speedway and Road Atlanta.
The race at VIR will take place on August 24.
