VIR Gives Fans a Chance to Own Part of Oak Tree

Danville, VA-- Virginia International Raceway in Halifax County is giving their fans a chance to own a piece of their famous Oak Tree.

The 200-year-old oak tree unexpectedly fell back in July.

VIR announced they'll be giving out commemorative key chains made from the old oak tree. All you have to do is buy advanced tickets for the Oak Tree Grand Prix also known as the American LeMans series by September 29.

VIR will also be planting a new tree near where the old oak tree was. Plans to make some furniture out of some of the extra wood that came from the oak tree is also in the works. However, it won't be available for another year or so.
