V.E.S. Volleyball Wins in State Tournament

Lynchburg - Independent school volleyball, 7 seed VES took out Richmond Christian in the first round of the Division 3 state tournament Tuesday. V.E.S. won the match in three straight games, game scores were 25-8, 25-20, and 25-22. Katlyn Layman had 11 kills and 9 digs for the Bishops, Brooke Bentley added 14 digs. V.E.S. advances to play in Wednesday's second round at number 2 seed Stonebridge School in the Tidewater area.

Also Tuesday night, Timberlake blanked Southampton 3-0. Addison Goodman had 20 kills and 3 aces for the Tornadoes, Darian Finnerty added 18 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Tanzar had 10 kills, Ashlyn Whitt 45 assists, 12 service points and 2 aces.

Timberlake travels to Roanoke Catholic Wednesday night for a 6:00 match against the Celtics.
