Pearisburg, VA - Giles County High School students got an extra day off after the school was found vandalized.
Superintendent Dr. Terry Arbogast says when early arriving workers showed up at the high school Tuesday morning they found the mess and administration quickly made the decision to close.
The main reason to close was so employees would stay clear of investigators while they search for clues.
Early reports show the damage was limited to the office area, said Arbogast.
After getting that assessment -- teachers were allowed to check out their rooms closely to make sure everything else was still in place.
As for the investigation: The Sheriff's Department investigators were still not available Tuesday afternoon after being on the scene since 5am.
Dr. Arbogast says, weather permitting, school will be in session as normal on Wednesday.
