Charlottesville - Reed Gragnani drove in four runs, Brandon Downes three as Virginia improved to 37-and-6 on the season with a 16-8 win over JMU Wednesday night in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers won their sixth straight game. They play a three-game series at Virginia Tech this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Liberty jumped out to a 12-0 lead the first two innings and the Flames held off Old Dominion 17-10 Wednesday in Norfolk. Alex Close drove in a career-high six runs, including a grand slam in the first inning. Sammy Taormina banged out four hits, including a homer and drove in three runs, Danny Grauer had four rbi's as the Flames banged out 21 hits for the game.
Also, VMI won at Norfolk State 9-4. Brandon Angus went 3-for-6 for the Keydets and the VMI bullpen allowed just four hits over the final six innings. The Keydets took advantage of six Norfolk State errors. VMI snapped a 7-game losing skid with the victory.
And Radford had its three-game winning streak snapped, losing at home to North Carolina A&T 11-6.
