UVa Earns No. 8 Seed in DI NCAA Lacrosse Tournament

From UVa athletics:CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia has received a bid to the 2014 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship as the No. 8 seed and will host Johns Hopkins in the first round on Sunday, May 11 at 1 p.m., at Klöckner Stadium. The game will be televised live on ESPN2 in HD. This marks the second season (2001) where Virginia was seeded as the tournament's No. 8 team.Virginia, ranked No. 7 in the USILA coaches poll and No. 8 in the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse media poll, enters the NCAA Tournament with 10-5 overall mark. Johns Hopkins, ranked No. 6 in both the coaches and media polls, earned an at-large berth and enters the NCAA Tournament with a 10-4 record. The winner of the Virginia-Johns Hopkins first round game will meet the winner of Sunday's first round game between the Air Force-Richmond winner and Duke (No. 1 seed) in the NCAA quarterfinals. The quarterfinal game will be held at Delaware Stadium, in Newark, Del., on Sunday, May 18. The quarterfinals will be televised on ESPNU in HD.
