Update: Two People Injured in Accident on US 29 Bypass in Amherst Co.

Amherst Co., VA - Officials say the northbound lanes at the scene of the accident on US 29 bypass in Amherst County are now open.


Update 5 p.m.:

Amherst Co., VA - Amherst County officials say two people have been taken to the hospital with injuries after an accident on US 29 bypass.

Officials say there was an accident involving a van and a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon.

Two people inside the van were injured. One was flown to the hospital and the other was taken by ambulance. Both are being treated at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Officials say the driver of the truck appears to be fine.

All lanes are still closed at the scene of the accident.


Amherst Co., VA - Officials say the U.S. 29 bypass is closed in Amherst County after an accident Wednesday afternoon.

The accident was by the ramp at the Old Town Connector.

Crews have closed the two lanes in both directions.

VDOT officials say drivers should expect delays.

Southbound traffic is being detoured onto VA-130.
