UPDATE: Suspect in Two Roanoke Bank Robberies in Custody
UPDATE: 10:00 p.m. Roanoke, VA - The suspect wanted for two bank robberies in Roanoke is in jail after the quick actions of a Botetourt County sheriff's deputy Wednesday afternoon. Roanoke Police were called to the 1700 block of Hershberger Road to the Carter Bank & Trust Wednesday at 2:55 p.m. for a robbery. Witnesses told police the suspect, now identified as Victor Eugene Angus, 64, of Stella, NC, walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. The teller was threatened with a weapon but no weapon was shown during the robbery, according to Roanoke Police spokesman Scott Leamon. A Botetourt County sheriff's deputy spotted the suspect's vehicle a short time later in the 3800 block of Lee Highway. Angus was apprehended without incident, Leamon said. Angus also admitted in an interview with detectives that he robbed the Carter Bank & Trust on Peters Creek Road on June 4, Leamon said.
