Update: Power Restored in Downtown Lynchburg

Update noon:

Lynchburg, VA - Power was restored in Lynchburg at around 11:15 a.m.

Several downtown businesses were affected by the power outage early Saturday.

Lynchburg police say sections of Main, Commerce and Twelve Streets lost power.

Dispatch says an Appalachian Power official told police that the outage was caused by a squirrel.


Lynchburg, VA - Appalachian Power is reporting a power outage in Lynchburg Saturday morning.

According to the company's website, 1,159 customers are without power.

Some officers from the Lynchburg Police Department are out directing traffic where traffic lights have stopped working.

ABC 13 has gotten reports that the outage is mainly affecting downtown Lynchburg.
