Update: 6:38 a.m.

Danville, VA - Danville's Director of Power and Light Ken Ashworth has confirmed that about 1,200 people have lost power in the city.

Ashworth says a station transformer has failed. Crews are working to transfer the energy load from that transformer to other transformers. We're told that process could take a half a day.

There's also no guarantee that the other transformers will be able to handle the extra electricity since it's so cold.
