Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg Police are feeling optimistic about catching the man who robbed the Walgreens on Wards Road Tuesday evening.
They've got some great pictures of their suspect, and they're sure someone can help identify him.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday a man walked into the Walgreens on Wards Road, went directly to the pharmacy and handed over a note.
He never spoke, but his note told employees that he was carrying a gun and directed them to turn over all of the OxyContin in the store.
Store employees did just that, and without a word, the man left through a back door.
Lynchburg Police investigator Bobby Moore says they were proud of the way employees handled the situation.
"He appears to have a gun. If they don't cooperate, you don't know what would have happened. We tell a lot of store owners -- banks and everything -- to cooperate, do what they need to do to get them out and make sure everyone's safe," Moore said.
Police say their suspect is a white man, in his mid-20s, around 6-feet 5-inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a light-color shirt and white cap.
He was last seen carrying a Walgreens bag and running in the direction of the Wards Road Kroger. Police believe he may be armed.
If you recognize him, they want you to call or text Crime Stoppers. The phone number is 888-798-5900.
