Update: House Fire in Roanoke Displaces Eight

UPDATE: 12:46 p.m.

Roanoke, VA - Eight people are displaced after a house fire in Roanoke Saturday night.

Roanoke Fire-EMS Spokesperson Tiffany Bradbury said the fire in the 800 block of 5th Street NE was called in around 8:41 p.m. and was under control by 8:55 p.m.

No one was injured. Damage is estimated around $9,000.

Bradbury said a portable light in the attic for lighting was accidentally left on and fell into the insulation and clothes that were in the attic.

Most of the damage was water damage, and not fire damage, Bradbury said.
