Update: Firefighters Rescue Teenager from Fire

Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg fire officials say a 15-year-old was assisted from a burning duplex early Tuesday morning.

We're told the teenager was in the side of the duplex that was not on fire. Officials say the teenager was treated for smoke inhalation.


Lynchburg, VA - One person had to be hospitalized after being rescued from a burning duplex.

At 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to the 600 block of Edgar Street for a structure fire.

After they pulled the person from the home, EMS crews took them to the hospital.

We're told their injuries are non-life threatening.

Fire officials say the damage to the home is extensive and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting two families at this time.
