Update: Danville Fire Department Investigating Spill in Creek

Danville, VA -- The Danville Fire Department believes they know who is responsible for a spill in a creek. Monday night, the hazmat team responded to a call about a milky discoloration in a small creek that feeds into Pumpkin Creek.

Their investigations showed that the substance was a wax residue. While it is still under investigation, fire officials say they suspect it was purposely put in the water.

They have been in touch with the Department of Environmental Quality and as of Tuesday afternoon, no one is concerned about the quality of water because it has been diluted.

No one has been charged yet.
